I think you can re-set by disconecting the battery for a short while but Im sure one of the tech boys will be along shortly to help.

Usually actually just a key cycle unless the code is still valid on key on.
In which case a fuse or battery disconnect may do more of a hard reset however if the issue still exists on key on it will still be there.
In any case it should be stored as a historical code, so best not to cut power to it so you can at least figure out what the problem is.
If you are at the Ace on Saturday I can list out any codes you have stored or current.

Hi just had the same problem (second time now) as soon as you get to the limit it dumps all the power and shuts down to "reduced performance" and check engine.

I have just posted up a new thread to see what other people get when they hit the limiter as it looks as though there is a link here.

I would like to think that the safe limits can be programmed out, or at least altered as it is very dangerous when these cut in.

This time around I was joining the motorway and had my whelly firmly planted on the floor, darn't say what gear as some bright spark will now how fast I was going, however I was in the fast lane this time when it happened, the back end was into the squat, nose up, and then nothing, stuck in the fast lane at a silly slow speed, no one one the inside lanes wanted to let me get off onto the hard shoulder.

Are you saying that the engine wasn't hot and you went to 4000 rpm, The warning light came on and noise sounded then you lost power? Please bare with mesilly
If that's what you mean, then on ours it just warns us. We get no power loss. (if I'm on about the wrong thing please be gentle)

Just as soon as you can switch the motor off and re-start all is well again. I have checked the fault codes and nothing. So until what ever sensor it is lets go, you just have to live with it. Unless someone out there knows better??????

Andy, you are a naughty boy! STOP the car first before switching off!!!!

Oh right nothing to worry about in your case, if you coast the car ie move forward with the engine off, and the ignition on for a short period then yes that error message is shown.

Nothing to worry about, well that you sorted, now what about me?

It should save codes for later. They won't necessarily be current. But should still be saved.
