Hi all .... new 56 Plate VXR Owner
Discussion
How do everyone, Just picked I'd recently sold my 88 and 89 GT Mustangs and couldn't cope with the lack of V8 rumble. I was told about a nice 56 plate VXR Monaro with 15,800 miles for sale for £16,900 in black, which I test drove and bought on the spot.
I'm in two minds as to what to do, I do quite a lot of miles with work as I run my own business, live in Newcastle, work for the moment in Harrogate and my other half lives in Leeds. I've got my heart set on LPG, which will allow me to have a heavier right foot without couting the £s, but I also want the sport pac (wortec, without electric exhaust valves). But I don't know which one to get first.
I think, logically it should be ...
LPG KIT (Oct)
Sport Pac (Nov)
Performance Pac (middle of next year)
Do you all agree?
I have 2 other cars, however they're highly 'fettled' also. One is a 240bhp Toyota Starlet running a TD04 Turbo, 1.3bar on a standard block and the other is an FTO Turbo, running 0.6bar on a standard block producing 265bhp.
Although my original cars are very quick, reliable and hellish fun I missed the slow, lazy power that V8s produce. Plus seling myself a security cleared software test analyst on a nice dailyrate to highest bidder then stepping out of either what looked like a Micra on crack or an extra car from Fast and the Furious always looked a little unprofessional.
I've sent an email to DAP Performance asking if I can get the car booked in, along with a voice message on their answer phone but I'm yet to have a reply.
I have one more question, how hard is it to debadge a VXR, are they stuck or on clipped into the body?
Thanks in advance
Sii
I'll get some pics of the VXR up, however it's just a standard black one so I'm sure you know what they look like.
(User name is my private plate, keep an eye out, I drive like an old woman and always wave back)
Here's some pics of the old mustangs and current Jap "chav" car collective.

welcome dont say its a 2006 or 2007 though as some anaorak will come along and tell you its a 2005 VXR

Welcome mate... there are a few of us in Newcastle. Have seen a black one getting around here a few months ago, and also saw a silver one.
Anyhow, i work in cobalt, and live in whickham... so no doubt will see you around somewhere.
Keep an eye out for a Monaro GTS black, that will be the mrs driving to work in blyth, and me in a blue SS ute.

EDS? Oh now, which project, he doesn't but I used to. From 2001 - 2004, between Durham house and Longbenton. My house mate (Vinay Tekchandani) is a junior project manager there.
My name's Simon Lomax, ring any bells? I worked on the CS2 project. I have some very close mates still there, John-Paul McPartlin, John Borlace to mention a couple.

... muck ,pah, each to their own
I do have a very mixed taste in vehicles, even I can see that. I am however not a fan boy and can take peoples comments and will happily give negative feedback regards to the Monaro compared to other vehicles I've had/currently own. However I can also praise the big lug of a car for the positive things I can see.
My previous car lists from 17 years old to 28 currently goes a little like
1.2 Nova dart
1.6 Escort
1.6 VW Gold MK2
1.8 G60 Corrado
2.9 VW Golf MK2 (modded with Corrado engine)
2.5 BMW (D reg) - lovely car
1.4 Turbo Renault 5 GT
1.4 Turbo Renault 5 GT - heavily modified
2.0 Honda Civic Type R
2.0 Honda S2000
1.9 Pug 306 D Turbo
2.3 T5 Volvo C70
660cc Smart Car (ForTwo) - sold it to my mum!
5.0 89 Mustang GT
5.0 88 Mustang GT
2.0 V6 FTO - Turbo (bought as you see in the pics, not my taste but a steal at what i got it for)
1.3 Toyota Starlet - used for commuting, 260'ish bhp but gets 320 miles out of £40 of petrol!
...and now the VXR.

None of the names I know... but work on the CIS project. Use to work in Durham house, but we moved out to Cobalt Business Park.

Ah, are you in newcastle as well?
One of the guys at tyrespot at scotswood road was saying they had a black in.
Yeah, saw you just near the A19 coming from killingworth. Was in the silver commodore at the time.

FAN BOY ALERT! heh heh [joking]
Thanks for the comments guys, I think it may have been mine that was at tyre spot. I managed to get Vauxhall of Blaydon to service the car, refurb the wheels, machine polish, replace some worn interior plastics, stain guard it and have a full inspection before purchase. I only live 2 mins off Scotswood road, I live in the new houses over looking the Tyne off Bensham Bank.
Monkfish, I may take you up on that offer. I've just had an email from DAP performance in Huddersfield. They're going to check the stock with Wortec for the exhaust and see when/if they can get me in.
I think I'll get the LPG fitted in late Oct/early Nov, then the sport pac (without electronic adjusters) as I'll probably stick to the so called 'quiet' mode as I do a lot of driving on motorway and country roads, plus I start work at 6:30am and don't want my good ladies neighbours hating me too much.
More than likely upgrade to the performance pac next year, along with retro fitting the electronic valves then.
Sound like a plan?
