When I first read this
http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,7493,1049212,00.html

I thought what a dumb idea. Drivers should come up through the ranks...winning F3000..CART for example.

Having thought about it a bit longer...I suppose it could be a money-earner for Jordan...they'd take a cut from the phone/text voting. TV fees etc.
I might even pop along to the auditions

I'm just off to dust off my helmet and where do I sign.

Very similar to what Exchange & Mart did that Mark Johnston (a Ph'er BTW - www.pistonheads.com/members/showProfile.asp?memberId=27070) won, albeit a Historic GP drive.

Whoever wins will have plenty of experience and will have done the 'come up through the ranks' bit anyway. They may not be as adept with sponsorship but you don't get unknowns magically winning things like this.

Not quite the same, but wasn't something similar being talked about for BAR's spare seat for next season.

Button's contract is secure, from what I remember, but there was talk that Jacques was going to have to compete in some sort of shoot out over five days with the test driver (Sato?), and a group of other drivers to see who gets the race seat next year?

Ok read the article folks it is a test in a Jordan a years driving contract.

Great bit of marketing Eddie but can you really see Eddie giving away a seat for free !!!

One thing for sure all my driver mates will get a gentle reminder to enter if it is true !
