Bit of a long shot this but I'm hoping that someone here may be able to help.

I'm looking for a DVD of the Farnborough Air Show in the '60s, 1966 to be precise, as my dad flew a display there and really want to find a copy of his display for him. I've seen "British Airshows: A Film History - Farnborough 1964 - 1988" advertised and was wondering if anyone has watched this? If so, does it have the display of Gannet AEW3s from 849 Sqd "B" flight on it?

Cheers.

There are two DVDs available called "Farnborough in the 1950s" and "Farnborough in the 1960s". The latter sound like the one you need - I have both.

They are both very good and are made up of newsreel footage and cover every show from 1950 to 1968.

Thanks Eric, do you remember if the Gannets (also known as the constant speed, variable noise machines) are on it?

Have you tried www.pprune.org ?

I do have a crib board made from a Gannet leading edge , but I guess that won't be much help !

MaineRd, CIty fan by any chance?
I'll have a look on that site, thanks. What I really want to get him is the Classic Airframe 1/48th model but it's not out yet frown

I'm pretty sure Gannets of various types crop up in both the 50s and 60s programmes. I also think the Blackburn (the YA9?)competing aircraft is also included. Don't forget that the Gannet first flew back in 1949.

Thanks again Eric, I'll see if I can find those for him.
