Got a rotten cold, so feeling sorry for myself. Picked up a bottle of Dufftown Singleton (don't rate it, too Oaky and Bourbony) as medication, have drunk half of it since 5pm at a steady sip rate, much better than paracetamol. I feel just fine, and stone cold sober, but I've just drunk half a bottle of Scotch and can happily carry on going. Is this much harmfull or am I being a wuzz? I thought a full bottle could kill?

I have on more than one occasion whilst at university drunk a full bottle of whisky or vodka before going out for the night. Alas I am not dead.

Alcohol tends to depress the immune system, rather than help in any way, making your cold last longer.

You can still operate a computer so I would imagine you are fine. Generally when you wake up in a puddle of your own vomit and urine on a regular basis is when you need to be concerned about too much drink. It's a trail and error thing, just be careful not to hook up with ugly women.

Thinking back to how much i have necked in an evening during my younger days i'd say you'd be ok.

In fact - there were times when i felt like crap, got smashed and woke up feeling a million dollars! (Of course there are also times when i have woken up feeling 30 x worse than i did the day before).

Hang over + a cold = awful

Half a bottle is too much.

But, now and then it's OK. Especially for cold fixing.

Don't worry. Unless, of course, you are worried in your head. If that's the case, professional help is not a bad choice. The other choice is sup the second half, get bladdered and fk em all. smile

Full bottle wont kill you, I'm living proof. Makes me act like a 5 year old though which I suppose is better than spoiling for a fight.

Regularly kill a bottle of Vodka (750ml) during summer BBQ's, dont think I could do a big bottle without losing my dinner.

Its probably very very bad for you, I tend to have horric hangovers unless I mix the vodka with red bull then I have about an hours sleep and am still buzzing the next day!

Keep going until you can't tell that you have a cold. Job done thumbup

Seriously - I had a sh*tty cold once and I'd tried everything. Nothing worked, so I went to the local takeway and bought the hottest curry they could make me and ate it with a bottle of JD as a chaser. I was still ill, but I couldn't tell. hehe
