Just got a letter from the Plod "Notice of intended prosecution"
Says i was doing 62mph in a 30mph zone.
Anyone had similar? What can i expect?
It gives no indication as to what the fine/ban will be or whether i will have to go to court or not. All it says is to fill in my Name, address, DOB and sign it.
I know where it now and there are no signs saying what speed it is there for ages apart from a very small one on the grass verdge covered in so much crap you can hardly see it!!
You comments are welcomed.

You best prepare for a court visita that speed is unlikely to be delt with by means of a fixed penalty.

Possibly a ban or quite a few points and fine at best

Sorry

6 points and £575 fine (inc. costs) was what I got for 61 in a 30...

...but that was a desterted industrial estate at 2am! I saw a fluorescent jacketeted shape walk out into the road and my first thought was "This is a very dodgy Slough Industrial Estate at 2 in the morning - do you *REALLY* want to risk stopping? ... right foot down ... keep going!" However I did decide to stop. ;-)

Right foot option is now an arrestable offence I believe. Not smart.

might not be a ban though - i got caught a few years ago - country lane....drops to a 30 down a hill at the bottom...plod jumps out with a speed gun...result? 62 in a 30....£110 fine and 3 points (by summons) plead guilty and take it on the chin as you dont want costs as well - cant see you wriggling out of that sort of speed can you? easier to just get it over with. if you get more than that your unlucky. i asked what would happen at the time the plod reckons that "anyone doing twice the limit usually goes before the chief super and he decides as to what to do (summonds), get it over with your gonna get something! (tip - iv just tonight bought a radar detector if you can afford it get a more expensive jammer) might give you a bit of a chance to keep a licence. good luck.

Got caught doing 60 in a 30 just over 3 years ago.

£360.00 and 6 points. I was only 50yds from a NSL sign as well - Barstewards !

Advice from the legal boys - plead guilty by post. If you're not physically in court you can't be banned.

Speed limit signs must be in pairs (except at a 'T' junction where the two roads have different speeds).
If there are no street lights, repeaters are required 'at regular intervals'.
If there are street lights, start signs are not required, however, if they do provide them, they must still be in pairs.
If you can't see it due to overgrowth, get a 'photo' pronto. Speed limit signs must be "maintained" in accordance with the regulations.

All they do is find you guilty then call you in for sentencing another day - if they are gonna ban you they will...youre just delaying the inevetable by not turning up the 1st time

These legal boyz don't know their @rse from their elbow.
Of course you can be banned in your absence! DVLA then demands that you send them your licence

Failure to attend court is also deemed to be contempt of court...14 days in chokey on top of your fine and points Take the fine and ban, if there is one, and keep a better watch out in future

So you have to perjure yourself under threat of a fine or disqualification.......no change there then
