On QT now... He's bloody good, you forget how good "proper" politicians are in debate until you see one in action again. So much more gravitas than the current crop of self serving lightweights even though he's well past his prime.

He's still got it. Just demonstrates further how politics has gone down the toilet in the last 10 years.

A true statesman.

The old bugger is getting good support from the crowd too.

Are you looking for a job in auto journlism? He owns this website. laugh

PS: He was considered a bit of a loose canon in his day. And he proved it. Often.
Suddenly it all makes sense biggrin

I didn't agree with some of his actions, but as a politician he certainly gives some of the lightweights a bit of a masterclass display.

Tebbit's the same. They can speak their minds now they're nowhere near being in power.

Heseltine wasn't always thus. smile

Tarzan is a good after dinner speaker. Saw him once in London, had the crowd in stitches and it wasn't party politics he was speaking about.

i was about to say the same thing, he might have been hugely right wing, but a massively intelligent man and amazing to watch in a debate, few people ever got the upper hand - used to love watching him on that Sky programme he did years ago, not because of his views, so much as watching someone who is brilliant at their job

Now where is that latest Sarah Palin interview rolleyes

But all the same he'd have been Prime Minister if he hadn't suffered the heart attack. They were all set when Maggie was deposed. Britain would have been mildly different under Heseltine from Major.

Thought he was very good. Jacqui Smith was a pathetic limpet by comparison.

Right, now where's the Boris / Ian Blair thread..
