The dog seems to chew only my shoes and no bugger elses :|
Its just had a second pair of trainers which were to replace the first lot it munched up. Ive now left the dog with my chewed shoes in hope it tries no more, Although now it seems to be parading my broken shoes up and down the room infront of me.
Why? What is the pooch trying to tell me?
He's not bored, He's very happy I hope.

Smack the shoe around his nose and tell him that he is a bad dog and will be out the door the next time he does it
seriously though can you not put the shoes in a cupboard so he can't get to them?
I've heard that feet give off a similar scent to a b
h on heat (not the pictures of Posh in the mag)so that could be a reason why he likes them.

He's just proud of his work! Come on, you love him, he loves you, a cheap pair of trainers every other month sounds perfectly acceptable. I have a similar set up with my cats presenting me with dead mice. Same sort of time in the morning everyday and in exactly the same spot.
Hmm... £50 a go though :|Jasandjules said:
I suspect he is bored. Does he have his own chews? How old is he?
Yea he has some rubber bones, and some of those bone chews. The missus wont let me take him a bag of bones from the butchers though

I couldnt smack him with it. I tapped him on his leg about it which he did respond and looked pretty miffed about, I dont want to turn him into some cowering wimp!. I do try to put them out of reach but even when they are mixed in with everyone elses shoes he seems only to go for mine. He will literally cherry pick mine out.

This is the reason I always hear as to why dogs chew things. Do you walk the dog every day until the dog is tired? However long it's daily walk is, double the length of the walk. It'll be too knackered to chew stuff when it gets back

Hmm... £50 a go though :Shoes are relatively cheap and easily replaced.
Our dog chewed the skirting board. No, make that boards. Every single convex corner in the house.
He would have gone on the grill for that, only dog tastes rubbish. Instead we rehomed him with the inlaws, who have more time and space to entertain him.

h on heat thing..Your shoes are an attraction just because they are yours, my Lab will steal my wifes socks the Beagle my shoes. Neither chews them though, just run off and hid the bloody things.
Does he do this when alone? Can be a behaviour caused by seperation anxiety, that will need addressing quickly as this escalates over time and gets harder to correct.
We had chewing problems with skirting with the Beagle, waited till she was mid chew and squirted lemon juice into her mouth as she chomped down, never chewed the boards again.
Ours have a huge box of things they can chew, and I mean huge so they don't get bored with things. I normally hide a couple of treats in there as well which keeps them entertained when we go out.
Oh, one thing that can help. If you have to tell the dog off never use it's name first. They just get confused! Call the dogs name it normally looks round all excited, happy to be getting attention, then it gets told off. Dog is getting a mixed message and fails to interpret it properly.
