WTF?

How can that possibly help Labour win the next election - it will utterly galvanise the floating floaters against Labour.

crazy - its deja vu all over again with dodgy ex politician embroiled in sleaze being forgiven - just a different party this time around.

AND a peerage. GB has totally lost the plot - reminds me of the New Statesman sketch when Alan B'Stard was informed that the Tories wanted to lose the next election because the economy was in such a state that they wanted Labour to take the blame, resulting in them being unelectable for the next 10 years - spot on writing, just in reverse.

Plus GB has left it a bit late to avoid blame - I thought Tony planned his departure prefectly though!

He isn't - he's using Bliar's back door tactic of using a member of the house of Lords in the cabinet...

Mandy is currently a failed politician (ie on the EU gravy train)

From the article it looks like Brown is poised to give Mandy a peerage for all the great things he's done at the trade commission.

DC could sleepwalk into No.10 at this rate.

So you're ok with giving him a peerage then?

Excellent. Chalk another one.

It all smacks a bit of last ditch changes but I think it's too late.

I suspect after the 'loss' of Ruth Kelly from the cabinet, Broon decided he needed another ugly woman who wears bad dresses, so Mandy was the ideal replacement.

Whatever you think/thought of him as an MP, I get the impression he has suffered a great deal in the Commission. Can you imagine spending your life negotiating with the French over agricultural subsidies? Bureaucratic hell - that's got to be a worse job than being Chancellor under Brown.

Sounds a little bit like when several senior Nazi's followed Hitler into the bunker to share their final days together.

I'm fine with this; stops him further sullying our country's name across the continent, and we'd be paying for him for the next year or so however you look at it.
