I really hope the product buyer at TK Maxx who is responsible for this loses their job. This has to be gross misconduct!

At a guess I'd say the coat will be withdrawn from sale but by then it will have contributed to TK Maxx's marketing campaign for its winter clothing range - i.e. job done, lots more people are talking about it.

Sigh, remember when you were a kid and a very small penknife was pretty much the norm?

It's a 200 quid jacket, probably aimed at people who are going camping. I hate to break it to you but people who want a knife to go out stabbing can probably find a cheaper and easier way to get their hands on a 2" swiss army knock off.

Agree 1,000,000% - it's shocking and disgraceful.

Anyone who accidentally finds a knife in their coat is a killer.

Just like that time I was spreading butter on a bit of toast and killed 86 people.

[/sarcasm]

So what... some people got free knives... big deal, they're hardly expensive or difficult to buy anyway??

Exactly. You dont solve knife crime by limiting access to knives. You solve it by making sure people dont want to use a knife as a weapon.

A knife is simply a tool.

If it came with a large spanner for "bike repairs" there would be no problem. Even though you can bludgon someone to death with it.

Exactly. It's a bks non story. Okay so the jackets should only be available for sale to those over 18 perhaps and really they should have removed the knives and replaced them with a tag so you can collect the knife at the counter when you buy (as with Sunglasses cases) but FFS will the media get over itself.

Looks like a nice Victorinox knife and an inside pocket for it, hardly a way to go out "tooled up" unless you want to end up with severed tendons in your fingers, the picture of it sitting in the pocket with the blade unfolded is amusing!

Non story IMO. How many people actually get killed with penknifes? If you want to stab someone there are far more dangerous items in your grannies kitchen drawer.

I'm fed up of the media bleating on about it tbh. It's every day, stories about shops selling knives, etc, etc. If any kid wants to go out on the street with the intention of knifing someone all they need do is walk into their kitchen. Guaranteed every household probably has at least 20 knives to choose from.

And if they can't find a knife (unlikely) it'd be a screwdriver.

And if it wasn't a screwdriver it'd be a spanner or some other tool.

And failing those options, anyone can walk into their local newsagents, buy a Broadsheet and turn it into a rather nasty weapon.

Im guessing this could be a snowboarding jacket? IIRC a small blade/multitool is useful for adjusting bindings etc. Massive over reaction IMO
