Is the older model (not deep sea) still available from an AD. Anyone know which stores have one in?
cheers

I saw it Sat afternoon, it's been there for a few weeks. If you are interested I could pop in some time this week and see if it really is reserved?
Checked again today..apparently it was one of the other watches that was reserved, went and picked one up today..Thanks Healey73....this was the only AD I could find (within a reasonable distance) that had one in stock... Thanks for your helpful information. Apparently there has been a rush of buyers for the old sea dweller since the Deep-sea model was introduced which I am told is not to everyone's taste.
Cheers again

Dominic..any valuable info on this one?
Sorry for late reply, I missed the thread....I had a chat with a local AD, and his firm expect a couple more 16600's before Xmas and that's it. I saw the new Rolex price list today (Oct 2008) and the 16600 is no longer listed.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread - but I have the exact same question. I am very very keen to get hold of a new 16600 SD whilst I can. I have sat on my arse on this for too long and fear I may have missed the boat. I am not keen on a Deep Sea Dweller and would much prefer the original.
Anyone seen any left in any AD's?
Can Dominic H help me with this please?
Considering the amount of jewellers and airports I have checked, I think I know the answer to my question...
Thanks in advance anyhow!

Thanks Healey,
Yep, they do indeed have one. I just now need to overcome the next hurdle.
I presently reside overseas and should not have to pay VAT on this watch. I am not back in the UK for 6 months and if I buy the watch tomorrow the jewellers don't think the customs man will not want to authorise my VAT refund if I pick up the watch and take it home in 6 months time but the proof of purchase has today's date on.
The jewellers can't post it to me (I don't really want them to either).
How can I secure the watch and get my VAT back - does anyone know how to do this. This is probably a noddy question, but I don't know the answer!
Thanks!

Why not leave a 95% deposit on the watch, and explain to the store why you would want to do so? You can pay the remainding balance when you take delivery of the watch in 6 months time. You'll then get a final invoice with a date that falls into a relevant window to allow the correct tax/export refund. Ask the store to leave the watch in the safe, with the warranty undated until you collect. I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't want to do so.Yep, they do indeed have one. Or, ask them to refund the deposit when you collect, and then in a seperate transaction buy the watch outright. Again, with an invoice dated to allow a tax refund.
Hope this helps,
Dominic
