A8 Diesle Tuning Box
Discussion
I have a 2005/05 A8 3.0tdi and have been doing a bit of research on tuning boxes, although I've not yet taken the plunge. One that looked pretty interesting was this one http://www.dieseltuning.co.uk/ but I read on some web forums that boxes like this, which intercept and modify the sensor signals to the ECU, will cause the fuel consumption readout to be correspondingly optimistic. It would be interesting to hear about REAL economy gains from people having had one fitted, and measured fuel economy the old fashioned way (ie record mileage between fillups, record volume at fillup, divide one into the other etc).
The other irritation I had is that I emailed the "Spider box" contact from their website asking for a copy of the "before and after" dyno graphs that they mention, to back up the power/torque increases they claim. After several weeks, I've not had any reply.

Still waiting for them to sort out a Mercedes Vito kit. Fitted as instructed just keep going into limp mode and cutting out. Loads of excuses, no refund as of yet.
