I have tried several 'Indonesian' restaurants in the UK that I found on tinternet and they are all seriously crap.

I live in South Bucks and before driving miles again to another disappointment can anybody tell me of a real Indonesian Restaurant that serves Rijst Tafels that can compare with the ones you get in Holland.

Thanks.

There's a 'fusion' style place on Eatson Street in High Wycombe that might have what you're after. Ate there once and found it Ok if a little pricey. Can't think of anywhere else in the area that sells Indonesian food though.

You could try Bali Bali on Shaftesbury Avenue which seems to have rave reviews.

A bit far away, but I've heard that Monty's in Kingston is quite good.

Not so sure it'll hit the right spot for you. Some digging and I eventually found their website.

That is indeed a very good Thai restaurant but it ain't Indonesian for which I am gasping now.
Most of the places that I went to that said they did Indonesian had some kind of Malaysian fusion stuff not the real stuff you get in Dutch Indonesian restaurants.

Would I be wrong in saying that Dutch Indonesian food is not the same as what you get in Indonesia? (a bit like the fact Indian food in UK is a long way away from real Indian food?).

This would explain why you can't find good Indonesian in the UK because it's the REAL thing!

Just remembered a place opened up on "The Parade" in Bourne End not too long ago. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called although I have a feeling it was another Thai place. Other end from Kongs Peking.

eta.. Nope, another Thai place http://www.bangkoklounge.com/

Sorry can't think of anything else/

Dutch Indonesian food is pretty authentic although far more luxurious than in most restaurants in Indonesia.
Although I am not a fan of Indian food there are also Indian restaurants in Holland that are like UK Indian places probably run by Indians from the UK.
I would like to find an Indonesian resaurant in the UK that is run by either Dutch Indosesian or Indonesians.
