Now, this might be a slight deviation from my normal culinary path, but I just saw a woman in the supermarket buying Angel Delight.

Not having the pleasure of Angel Delight since I was a nipper I decided it would be a clever idea to buy a packet (butterscotch flavour) to treat (?) the gf who maintains that she has never tried it.

Have I made a schoolboy error? Will it be awful and ruin my childhood memories?

No, you are fine. It is great stuff, so long as it is Butterscotch. Make sure you leave it long enough to set though.

laugh I was just thinking the same thing, I've been dairy intolerant for 20 years and mainly I don't miss it but just occasionally....

  • Piglet goes off to check how much milk is already in AD and whether she can make it with soya milk*

Errr actually maybe I don't fancy it after all:

Butterscotch Angel Delight...

Sugar, Modified Starch, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Emulsifiers (Propane-1, 2-Diol Esters of Fatty Acids, Soya Lecithin), Gelling Agents (Tetrasodium Diphosphate, Disodium Phosphate), Lactose, Milk Proteins, Colours (Plain Caramel, Annatto, Beetroot Red, Beta-Carotene), Flavourings, Whey Powder, Anti-Caking Agent (Silicon Dioxide), Salt

I tried it with Soya Milk a while ago. No go. I think it needs the fat to set and expand but I`m no chemist!!
