Guys, Gals and fellow Northern Monkeys ...

I want to remove some of the 'bling' from the VXR, for example the rear badges and the V8 ones from the side.

Has anyone done this and does anyone know which ones are push fit and which ones are stick on ones.

Thanks
Sii

What about the bonnet badge? Is that glued on or pinned in?

I managed to hit some kind of animal last night on the way home on the A61, slight 'dunk' and saw it flip off into the bushes. Nothing too big, but it's managed to crack the front bumper underneath. Also popped the passenger side pin out from within the wing/liner area. I'll take the bumper off this weekend and repair with fibreglass sheets to strengthen it back up (remove the slight flex now apparent).

So how hard is it to remove the bumper on the VXR?

Well if 'it' was jumping out of bushes at 10pm on the A61 in the dark on a bend then 'it' deserved to be knocked the f**k down

The sticky stuff they use to fix the badges on is quite strong - heat the badge up well with a hair dryer before going at it with the dental floss.

Why would you want to remove the badges. I feel proud to say I bought the car for the car and not the badge. The fact that it says Vauxhall on it only adds to the amusement when it leaves just about everything else there is on the road.

What he said

At least they're not being swapped for (incorrect) Holden badges though..........................

Personally I just thought there were too many badges, and I thought the "V8" badge on the front wings was bit redundant given the noise the car makes. The nose badge on the 05 CV8 (can't speak for the VXR) is moulded in the shape of the Holden Lion, you can only see this once you've pulled off the Vauxhall badge (from which in my case most of the black paint had flaked off.) Also I like the anonymity of the car with the Holden badges, hardly anyone knows what the Holden badge means. Personally I quite like Vauxhalls, we always had them as a kid, but *some* people (sadly) do form an opinion about you from your car and given the business I'm in I quite like to keep that bit under the radar. Plus, it is a Holden... biggrin

Why you may ask, well because I think (personally) as though it looks like I reversed into the front window of Halfords and then drove off with half the contents of badge section stuck to it.

I won't be sticking "GTi" or "Turbo" badges on so you can relax. It's all down to personal preference. Why do I shave my balls, not because it makes me any faster or to make me look like something I'm not but because I want to.

Just so you know ALL badges on my 56' VXR were stuck on, I removed the side V8 badges, the VXR, Monaro and Vauxhal and they came off no problem. I also had a little tug ........

...... of the front badge and it came off, leaving a lovely smooth bonnet.

Off to get the wheels sprayed carbon/grahite next week or so, looks good with the light smoke tint I have fitted today.

Roll on my Monkfish fettling session next weekend
