Specialist prices

Im a newbie to the Porsche marque and have been looking for an earlyish 996 and monitering the specialist sites for a while hoping for a good value car, Paragon now seem to be as good value as the likes of Cridfords and 911 virgin who would you guys recomend.

...if you are a "newbie" to Porsche....go have a chat with Henry or Tom at Virgin 911....(make an appointment)....I was very impressed with the service and their knowledge of 911's....but saying that Paragon were helpful when I was looking for a 993....but I think more expensive....I know there a few guys on here will come out with the old arse "licking line" 'cos I bought from Virgin 911....but don't listen to them....anyway...good luck.

p.s. You sure you want to buy a kettle?.....aka 996....;)

p.p.s. Virgin 911's pricings might seem...er...different but there are a few different ways you can do a deal...so don't be put off.

I've bought from Paragon before - high prices but great cars. Very stingy on the pricing though and will be interesting to see how they get on in the current climate. They are not open to deals of any kind, the price on the car is the price they sell them for and they'll let you walk away if you're not prepared to pay that price. They wouldn't even knock £100 off the purchase price for road tax on £27k car. Whether that applies to the RS Touring they have On Sale (roll up, roll up) at £139,995 remains to be seen.

I'd like to buy one from Henry in the future as he seems passionate about his product and he seems a stand-up guy from what I've learnt on here.

haven't purchased and don't know them but been over to 911virgin and I have to recomend them from what I experienced

In 20 years or so of buying and selling cars there aren't many dealers that I would ever recommend either

was very confussed about 911 virgins pricing structure, for the retail price do you get a warranty and if so what do you get, from speaking to the guys at paragon they seem very straight forward in what you get and i have read a lot that they are very well known for how they service and prepare their cars.

my only other worry was servicing etc, if you buy say a virgin or cridfords car where do you take it if something goes wrong their websites dont show any service facility.

Just go and speak to them, if you still don't like the company structure afterwards don't buy a car from them, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Dont stick your head up a dealers ar5e. Its got nothing to do with the dealer, its got everything to do with the deal on offer. I dont think that any of the dealers that you mention will sell you a pup, they only stock quality cars. Some points to consider:

Get the car that you want with your spec, dont go to dealer and get him to sell you what he's got.
Some include a warranty and some dont.
Some are sitting on aged stock that they havent reduced. Uncle 'enry has a 55 plate for early 53k, IIRC a simillar car was discussed at Bramley for early 40's. One of 'enry's Turbos though seem quite cheap.

Their are a fair few specialists, you mention a few add AutoBahn, RSJ, Shirleys, Stirlings, Portiacraft, ePorsch.

If you want a dealer to look after the car as well Camtune is a particularly good one, they have invested in all the gear to offer factory standard work and get top marks on this forum for everything. Paragon are simillar though I recall a couple of people whinging about the cost. Getting the dealer to look after it wouldn't bother me. I'd want to work with JZ Mactech or Northway.

As a buyer you hold ALL the cards. If a dealer doesnt give you what you want - walk.

good advise, thanks for that, just dont want to buy a pup as they say. I think i will speak to the guys at 911 virgin and arrange a visit, Jamie who i spoke to at Paragon was great, was on the phone for a good half hour and he rested my mind with a few good points and seemed realy knowledgable and almost to enthusiastic, cridfords gave me about 5 minutes of his time and i got the impression he wasnt to bothered about selling me something.

If your travelling down from the West mids then en route stop off Shirleys in Meriden and AutoBahn in Cov. 'enry's is off of J2 of the M40. From 'enry's RSJ is 15 mins up the road in Slough. Then jump on the M4 to Northways and then back up the A34 to the M40.

AutoBahn has the Porsche service specialist PCT next door (featured in 911 & Porsche world).

Virgin have 11 996's at the current count, RSJ have 13 and Northway a few too. If you cant find a car worth buying after this little road trip then you probably need shooting. Good luck.

Ive had 2 cars from Portiacraft and they have a good workshop so all cars are well prepd prior to sale and they include a really good warranty. Also they also seem to have the most reasonably priced cars.
Very easy to deal with.

thanks John, reading a few posts on here i have read some very negative things about them, some to be somewhat alarming. There is a huge choice out there at the moment. Any one heard of a company called Mr 911? Who is Mr 911?

I bought a 911 C4S from Mr911 three weeks ago. He seems to know everything there is to know about Porsches and I got the feeling he could talk about them all day and not get bored. I have been more than happy with my new baby. He has been selling Porsches a long time and I would buy from him again. When I phoned him last week with a question he was really helpful. And he remembered me which is always nice.

They are near to Biggin Hill airport. There were about 8 cars, all Porsches

It wasn't really the quality of his website that enticed me. It was the price of the car.
It is a bit boring but what do you expect from a used car salesman? I don't suppose they learn websites at college!
And he did know loads about Porsches which was what I wanted.

I like the look of that C4S in Cobolt Blue myself. But went in my mate's C4S the other day and the noise inside was louder than in my 993 Targa. Mostly tyre roar but very noisy.

I've bought a car from Shirley's as well. Don't be put off by the rough and ready showroom, the cars are priced keenly and are prepared by Martin Brown next door who has a great Porsche mech reputation.
