I know, what a cock !!

But in getting my wife to run over to me with a spare key ( she was not amused ) found that the spare key has an almost flat battery.

Also this talk of using the mobile phone to relay the signal in previous posts is utter bullcrap, tried it, didnt work !! expected to see a hidden camera filming me for "People do the weirdest things "

Ok lads & lasses what is the form here ??, New battery ?? New fob ?? if so how much, how is it done,
who do I see, where do i go, does it involve taking tranquilisers or getting a new mortgage or both ?

Also, Lets see more posts on chequered tape tuning aids

Been there done that, had to call the RAC out as the car was locked. I had a nightmare!!! Luckily i left the front window open a bit other wise i would have had to drive for an hour and a half to get the spare key.

The fob is sealed together so battery replacment isnt possible according to workshop manuals but i know when the time comes im going to see whats inside to see what can be donesmash
Then the fob has to be programed to match the car this is quickly done with Tech2 at the dealers for a further charge
or
you can be the first to try this method from the GTO manual which wont cost a penny but may take some time

Programming Transmitters Without Tech 2

Turn the ignition to ON, then wait 10 minutes for the next step in the programming sequence.
After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp once. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position within 5 minutes after the horn has sounded, then to the ON position within 5 seconds after switching it OFF.

Leave the key to the ON position for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp twice. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position within 5 minutes after the horn has sounded, then to the ON position within 5 seconds after switching it OFF.
Leave the key to the ON position for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes has elapsed, the car horn will chirp 3 times.

Verify that the security indicator in the instrument cluster has stopped flashing and attempt to start the vehicle.

Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key from the ignition switch.
Move approximately 3 meters (10 ft) away from the vehicle and test the transmitter functions to validate that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.

If you decide to go with the cheaper option let us all know if it works or not

Fobs are regularly on EbayAU

Yeah I think its even easier than that. The guy who bought my car, John, replaced the fob and resync'd it easily. I think he said you just use the key to open and start the car and that was that. Maybe if he is reading this he can confirm?
