Any Legal Eagle's or BiB's know what the time limit is on a routine traffic offence. (36 in a 30 scamera on Brighton waterfront). Alleged offence 22 of Feb 2003. Contested NIP and now heard nothing at all since last "sign the NIP" letter - which was late June 2003. Six months from alleged offence was the 22nd of August 2003 - so am I still up for a date in court or do they have to 'prosecute' within six months of the alleged offence.....??!!

Provided the information is laid before the issuing magistrate within the 6 months a summons may be issued. This summons may then be served at any time, even years later.

Correct, however, if you know in which court it would come up, check with the listings department whether any papers have been laid.
Failing that, you could ask the scamera pepople themselves as it's now too late to lay the papers for the speeding, although perhaps not for S172.
