Injector faulty on E class- how bad?

On my wifes 2001 E320cdi the 3rd injector is shooting fuel out. the car stinks. Amechanic mate of mine tried to get it out and it is stuck in. He can also tell its a replacement part as it has scrap yard markings on it.
Is this a common fault and how big a job is it to fix. I just want to sort it now so we can get shut of what I think is the worst car we have ever owned!!! lol

The fuel return pipe could be leaking on the low pressure side (this is the small pipe on top of injector) or the copper washer underneath the injector, this seals it to the cylinder head.
The injectors do seize into the head but most garages or merc specialists will have the equipment to fix this,we do.
