Houses and stuff...
Discussion
Being the morally reprehensible character that I am, I've never taken the plunge into actually going to get a mortgage for myself, having rented for ages since moving out. I used to be an Estate Agent, and I used to sell Mortgages so I'm not blind to what's happening in the market.
However, I'm starting to browse online and keep an eye on estate agents windows. When I was in the game, there were LOADS of places that came on the market with real presence or were just really cool pads. Now it seems like the only stuff coming up is New build flats and terraced houses. Even when looking on the apparently 'booming' rental market there is rarely anything with any class. Even if it was just a nice rental pad for 12 months.
It's all a bit boring...
Could there be any reason for this or are people just hanging onto the nicer stuff?
It's not like I don't have a bit to play with... been looking at around the £1500 mark for rental in Kent (I have no need for more than 2 beds) but can't find anything that blows me away.
When I go down the mortgage route I'll be looking at about the £2k mark and I would have thought that would buy me a lot in a years time. Just don't understand the shortage of nice properties and an abundance of 'chuck it up quick' flats when many are supposed to be in negative equity.
Just an observation really, but if anyone has any theories...
