just a quick legailty style question, I was nicked by a talivan, that was parked on the right hand side of the road, not on the side I was travelling.

Is this allowed? I would assume they would get false readings from the on coming traffic blocking/effecting the view/reading?

I was done like this too - on a dual carriageway. Somerset revenue thieves!

And it was through a windscreen - they now tell me they have changed their policy. Took 3pts for 71 in a 50!! Court would have been an arse.

Talivans use ( universally I thought ) laser which does not go through glass. Thats why they have those complicated litlle hatches in the back window.

Richard - I thought that too!! I was taken through the windscreen with a LT20/20 laser. The van was facing me on the other side - have seen the photo. Their safety camera twit said that it was no longer their policy to do this, but it was perfectly legal.

Numerous expletives!!

And if it was fired through glass you would be perfectly entitled to ask them to prove that their results allow for Snells law:

Doesn't the refraction etc. always favour the motorist? The snotting letter I wrote to them was replied to with contempt as if i was a murderer or worse. Tried all the tricks. I can post the letter on the site if I can work out how to digitise it!!

Avon and Somerset safety camera team compare with the welsh hitler Bumtwat or whatever he's called!

And a windscreen is not a simple piece of glass. It is (generally) curved and might well consist of two sheets of glass and a plastic film. It might have insects and other detritus on the outside, a film of dirt on the outside and a film of oil, dirt, smoke, etc. on the inside. Other glass might be a single sheet, but the other additional elements could apply here too.
