Well its time to replace the fronts so wheres the cheapest on the net ? 450 with PAS , 205/55 SO2's right now - I know there are many different sizes that *could* fit but this is the correct size stated in my handbook and Im happy to go with this size again. As per previous threads the only Z tyre seems to be the Dunlop SP9000 , not a bad tyre so now where to buy ?

Camskill dont seem to stock them, blackcircles are £61.34 per tyre plus £10 shipping per pair. Is it worth looking any further or is this as good as it gets

Cheers

I got mine from mytyres dunlop sp9000, it doesn't work out much cheaper buying online after you pay for fitting valves and balencing, i just bought a dunlop sp2000 £85 all in from a local fitter,
times must have been hard as he first quoted £95 for the tyre plus fitting,i told him not interested at that price and hey presto

Don't be fooled into believing that on-line is cheaper for tyres. Over the past three years I have bought 14 tyres, I do the trawl around the on-line places and then ask my local fitter; he has never failed to beat the price. I don't even need to tell him my best quote, he always beats it anyway.

Event tyres.
They come to you and fit them.
When i take time and inconvenience into account, they nearly always offer the best solution. Don't accept the on-line quote, ring them up and have a chat, they will improve the price.

I made huge savings online for the 19 inch extra load tyres on my audi A6. Savings were £300 across the 4 tyres. I used pneus online, and have also used mytyres in the past. To give u an idea Kwik Fit (never the cheapest) quoted me £1200 for 4 x 19 inch Dunlop 9000s, and got down to £900 after haggling. Others all quoted circa £900-1000. I paid £600 all in online, tyres deliverd to my local garage who phoned me when they were in and then fitted them.

I have found that savings on smaller diameters are less marked, and you do have to shop around.

I fitted Dunlop SP9000 to our SC450 last year and was over the moon when recently having the car MOT'd the tester said the tyres need replacing! I would not buy another set as their performance is pretty poor wet or dry. I bought these because I wanted a set of wet tyres for track use; generally in the dry we use the Dunlop D02's which is an excellent track tyre.
After initially fitting these new tyres both Howard Bryan and Andy Race said the tyres had no grip when testing the car on track before they realised the car was shod with new tyres!

Problem seems to be the compound is too hard, being difficult to get any temperature into them. On track it takes a frustrating amount of laps to get heat in them to generate grip, get a yellow flag, slow down and its back to square 1. On the road in the wet the tyres do not give any confidence and I am glad they are worn out.
Suspension set up is fine, the car being setup with differing spring rates and Gaz damper settings to suit conditions over the year,
These tyres are generally known to be a good tyre, but they need to work harder. Possibly TVR's are too light for the tyre.
I am interested in other opinions but will I be buying another set, emphatically NO.
Time for me to start looking again.

Cheers for all the input - checked out a few of those sites, blackcircles are cheapest so Im off to order now. They will be fitted by Topcats at the next service so I dont need a fully fitted option.

Shame Falken dont do a decent performance tyre in that size as I have 452's on the rear and they are fantastic.

Cheers

I for one WONT be using a certain on line tyre supplier after they took payment TWICE from my credit card and then gave me 'attitude' when I pointed out their mistake. Then they made me wait 12 days to refund what they had wrongfully taken.
PS, The garage they sent me to said that they could've beaten the price paid too.

Don't forget to search for Blackcircles discount codes...

There's a Honda S2000 owners club code that I used to use, or CCS2KUK17 gives £16 off each order...

Om My Audi the SP9000' last 8k miles more than the original fit Pirelli PZero Rossos and have much better wet grip, although they are slightly noisier. SP9000s have also lasted well on my G33 although for such a light car I would prefer a softer compund, but sp9000 are only FIA approved tyre of the right size for the car. If FIA approved them for my class I would use toyo R888's on the G33.
