As a watch fan, but by no means a connoseur, I'm looking for something a little different to augment my Breitling colt and Omega Seamaster daily wears.

I'm considering a pocket watch, having been exposed to the Omega 1932 olympic one. Sadly, I lack the $70,000 to stump up for that, but I'm certainly interested on people's views on pocket watches, movements, and marques. I'm sure many among you will have a huge combined knowledge, so I would love to hear any pointers and advice on the subject.

I'm in the USA, and I've seen this.. http://www.pocketwatchcentral.com/Products/AW10512...

It certainly looks beautiful, and appears to be well within budget. I'd say my ceiling is circa $3k.

I look forward to your comments!

Double bump.

I wear a pocket watch every day either with my waistcoat or from my jacket buttonhole.

Modern pocket watches are very well made but they lack the patina of a Victorian or Edwardian watch. You should be able to pick up a gold watch fairly cheaply. Check on ebay for guide prices which will depend on the quality and type of watch. [Hunter, half-hunter or pocket watch.] The same applie for adent 9k watch chain.

Good luck.
