R8's only slightly quicker, so.. maybe, seing as they cost a fair whack more?

Problem the M3 has no matter how quick it is is that it looks more like a standard 320 coupe with bling alloys. Its also not had very good write-ups with it being compared to a Porsche Cayman rather than the 911 which you would think is its main rival. The R8 does not have the dual clutch system yet so the BMW's i would imagine is far superior.
Frankly, any write up that suggests a front engined, 420hp V8, four seat M3 is mainly up against a mid-engined, 2 seater sports car like the cayman isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Chalk and cheese. I'd take more notice of the views of current or former owners of the m3.

Gotta admit, these Audis are very understated. I saw an R8 not too long ago and had to double glance as I thought it was a TT. Same goes for the RS4, saw it in black last week and thought it was just another 1.9 TDI A4 with 19" S-line wheels.
That said, everytime I see an M3 (E92) I double check to see if it's not some 320d coupe either.

I'd rather have the R8, but I'd take the M3 over a Cayman every time.Schermerhorn said:

I agree with Schermerhorn, sometimes you could confuse the RS4 with a lesser S-line A4 (afterall many of them have the same wheels etc). The M3 could just be a 335d

Simple....even if I had the cash I'd have a E92 M3 in silver.....get rid of the model inscription on the rear boot lid- get rid of the wing vent decals and colour code, put on some 18" BBS RG-R.....
So then people would think your car is a badly modified 3 series - Great plan!Edited by baz1985 on Tuesday 7th October 19:06
I am lucky enough to have both, both are great cars, in a straight line very similar but that is were it ends, the R8 is so much more of an event, the feel the handling the looks IMO.
I have an r tronic R8 & a DCT M3 the DCT has moved the game on but
for some reason the r tronic suits the R8 and is more fun in that package.
But one did cost £40k more than the other.

Come on, let's be realistic.
I've had a fair few M cars and am quite fond of them, but would you really have an M3 rather than an R8?
I would. I've had a fair few M cars and am quite fond of them, but would you really have an M3 rather than an R8?
I think the R8 is the best Audi ever made, but I have just gone off Audi altogether, had so many that frustrate me I have started to dislike them all for some reason.
No struck on the R8 looks either, always think or a Smart coupe when I see one.
But it is different and for that Audi have to be applauded.

Despite that saying 'Audi R8 is noticeably faster.'?R8's only slightly quicker, so.. maybe, seing as they cost a fair whack more?
Edit: Well for real world driving not really I suppose.
I'd still have an R8 every time.
