For the last couple of weeks, whilst trying to post on PH, I have found myself looking at my frozen PC for anything up to a minute whilst “waiting for ad.uk.doubleclick.net/" (plus a load of other garbage) clears from the bottom left hand corner of my screen.

Is it just my elderly (2004) Advent jobby that is the root of the problem, or is it too much advertising being foisted upon us (together with the resultant spyware) by the PH management, taking too much intrusive advertising on the site?

(I’m giving 20 to 1 on that this thread gets closed very quickly indeed if it’s the latter smile )

I believe there has been a server down - I have tried to access threads which were shown as three pages, and on entering the thread, found only two pages, and the last poster is NOT the name on the index page!

It's all those PH'ers trying to read the pages at the same time that done it!

If you haven't already got Adawarehttp://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php I suggest you download/update and run it to remove some old rubbish thus making room for some fresh PH advertising cookies....sounds like your system is chock full to bursting with them at the moment!

Adaware installed, weekly virus scan, disc cleanup used regularly, defrag programme run when required.

I don't think the problem is at my end!

Tools - Internet Options - Privacy - Sites

Add the annoying sites that keep appearing in your ad aware scans and set them to block always.

I think if you're trying to serve the web on a jobby, that'll be your problem smile

There was a server problem on saturday night, but that is not related to this current problem.

The current problem seems to be that there is a specific advert which is loading slowly for certain users. If you can spot which one it is then let me know and I will get it pulled.

Sorry to bump a 5 year old topic, but I am having this issue with PH classifieds "ad.uk.doubleclick.net".

However this is on my laptop which is running Ubuntu (install not live cd) and therefore there is no hosts file. Any solution please?

Thanks
