Transferring money from UK to Spain

Will need to transfer money (approx £1000 at every month) from UK bank account to Spain's Bank account.

Which company will be able to deal this at good price.

This will be long term (looking like 20+ years)

Halifax used to let customers transfer to Halifax Espania for free. Check of they still do.

Most expensive FX brokers = high street banks

Best off opening a Euro a/c in the UK and finding a dedicated FX house for this.

Pippage is the key and banks will be much wider than a real firm.

I have been using this service but suspect the 'free' is a bit miss leading as I think the rates they give are not too good.

I've been struggling to get 1.45 to the pound for quite a while now!

I have two accounts at La Caixa - I transfer money to my Sterling account as required and they swap it into euros commission free at the prevailing rate

Whichever way you do it it's sub optimal
