No, no no no you are wrong. Sly fox is like playing Russian Roulette, the game can go well or it can go terribly. The risk is so severe you don't really want to play it in the first place. Most Sly Fox is overpoweringly gingery. I know as i used to sell the stuff. I would describe it as a tourist beer..."oh look love, we happen to find ourselves in a pub. They dont make pubs like this anymore. What beers do they have on tap? Oh this one looks interesting it appears to have a cunning hint of ginger. I will have one of those barman." lovely, not too overbearing ginger flavours on the pallete, best sampled cask conditioned for the best taste/quality too
(not too sure if they bottle it actually...)sorry to rain on your parade but give me some Golden Pippin or Cumberland ale anytime.
Bundaberg is nice, nice old chap running it in Australia. Had dinner and breakfast with them, he is also into farming olive trees which is apparently the big thing in Aus.
The UK version has less SO2 than the Australian version, meaning that it has less bite. Pity ...
We used to sell it the UK, but gave it back to Bundaberg as we didn't want to put the money up for shelf space. We also turned them down for producing the bottles themselves, resulting in six months no supply for Waitrose last year, despite them still paying for the shelf space.
The UK version is nice but for those who are a fan of the Australian original, you must just be a bit disappointed!
