Went last year to the SS and tbh it was the day out with my mate that made it fun not the rallying. They decided to let the WRC go first which meant everyone left after this which in Cardiff Stadium means it was a deathly silent place when the junior wrc/amatuers came in which was annoying. Again lots of money for not alot.I wont be going again unless i tie it in with riding in Wales....

Don't wish to be pedantic, but surely it's discrimination if you DO give an age related concession, not if you don't. That's what the definition of discrimination is.No Concession for over £65's!

Yep, full weekend passes for the Swedish rally a couple of years ago were about £35 a head. I think the total cost of that trip was less the the previous years trip to the Welsh rally. Part of the cost increase this year is to pay for the rally to be carbon neutral.

Yes its a rip off. Seems more so to me seeing as I pay a tenner per car the rest of the year to watch national rallies on the same stages then come nov/dec I get charged 3 times as much per person all of a sudden. BUT its a one off international event, if you do it properlly its also the best event of the year to watch and somehow by the time shakedown starts on thursday I've totally forgotten about the 90-100 quid I've spent on a 4 day pass!
Seriously though does anybody know where all the extra revenue goes, I realise it will cost more to run than a national event but I'm pretty sure the competitor entry fees alone especially with manufacturers being charged around 10k is enough to cover the foresty costs so where does the rest go exactly?

IIRC manufacturers pay a lot more than that.I wonder how much is spent on getting police to close down local roads, laybys etc. to ensure that no one gets in without paying.

£10 !! mate it was £2 a stage including parking etc at the 'big; stages like Kielder and Grizedale, oh and Dalby woodyard These days it never occurs to me to go and watch the RAC, which is a shame.
It was a rally back then, packed stages, loads of great cars, free entry into service etc etc, brilliant.
Shadow of it's former glory now in all ways, shame.
Just had a look at the wales rally gb entry form and its 4k for a manufacturer entry per car and just over 2k per car for ametuers with low powered classes being slightly cheaper again. Now factor in what works and well funded private teams are also paying for extra service park space, helicopter passes, extra staff passes etc and think how many people are taking part and thats a hell of a lot of money. Forestry commison charge ~£550 per mile of stage usage for regrading after and that can all be paid for easily on entry fees alone. If ticket fees pay all the other bits and bobs, toilets, police etc I still get the impression sombody is making a large profit somewhere!
