Is it bad form to bid 10-15% below asking price on a house that's been up for sale for over 12 months...have your offer accepted, wait until they have sorted out somewhere else to buy/live....then revise your offer by another 10-15%???

Obviously it's not nice for the sellers involved but if you can get away with it, why not?

Talking about houses around the 150k mark....there are loads of properties stagnating at the moment and it seems like a good way for someone with ready cash (my cousin) to pounce! Trouble is she's got morals so probably wouldn't do what I'm suggesting.

Your thoughts........

Why not just offer 30% below from the start?

It's a stty thing to do especially if they have spent money out on surveys, mortgage booking fees etc.

But that's life I guess.

Karma. Bad Karma.

Personally I would not like it done to me, and I'm fairly principled about these things so I would do my best, as the vendor, to royally screw you over if it was tried. Somehow, revenge dish best served cold etcetera.

I'd like to think that I would not do it, I'm assuming your cousin has a house to sell and I doubt she would like it happening to her, or indeed yourself when it comes to sell.

When it comes to selling my house and someone tries that with me I intend to tell them to fk right off. Obviously when in the situation I may not have the bottle to go through with pulling out but that is my intention.

yes There will certainly be a few around here hoping that it does.

Give it a try. Hopefully the seller is in a happy enough financial situation to tell you to go screw yourself.

I'd tell you to go screw yourself....then I'd hunt you down.

Be nice, play fair. Karma can be a real bh.

Go ahead, but don't be suprised if they take all the curtain hooks, light bulbs, pour cement down your toilet, smear excrement on your door handles, piss in your water tank and tune your ariel into BBC Scotland........
