Hi

I am going to Cyprus on holiday soon for a week, and wondered what the best way to pay for things out there is:

  • Take enough cash to cover everything
  • Take minimal cash and pay for things out there with a credit card
  • Take minimal cash and get cash out from a cash machine out there to pay for things
  • Travellers cheques
  • Something else?
Thanks

Sell your house, move out there and live a bohemian beach lifestyle rather than chase dreams here which the Govt will just flush away for you.

become a "laydee boy" and sell your bum like women sell their front bums. Take a rubber ring and some ketamine with you, it'll be fine.

Cash for a few days & a Post Office travel money card.
You don't get charged for transactions or withdrawals when using it abroad- unless the currency you loaded the card with differs to the currency used in that country.

Make sure you load the card in Euros

I used one a few months ago in Majorca & it had no problems with it.

I came back from Cyprus a week ago, lovely place.

I just took 700 euros in cash and stuck it in the room safe, taking it out as needed. I did use an atm while I was there as well, but I'm not sure I got a decent rate from it.

Whatever you decide to do, take plenty with you, it's not the cheapest place. Prices were very similar to London.

Slight thread derailment, but yes I did, in fact I made most of it up biggrin - however, the above post is 100% original, genuine and untouched, guaranteed or your money back.

I dont bother taking any money, as parents live in "Cyprus", and I just use the bank of "Mum + Dad".

It often pays to use credit cards abroad for purchases as you tend to get a better ("commercial") conversion rate than just buying currency here B4 U go.

That was more or less what I did and I agree on the prices, sunny Paphos was no cheaper than eating or drinking in dull Cambs.
