This is probably in the wrong place, but who cares, it's only a quickie. I'm looking at moving into a rental property and will need to open a new bank account in my name at this address, what ID would a bank need to prove that I lived there? Is it a reasonably straightforward process?

Why will you need a new bank account?

Well, you'll need to get things in the right (chronological) order.

You can't open an account at a new address you haven't yet moved to, so if you need the account in order to move into the rental place you'll have to open it at your current address.

Excellent.

I personally would have contacted the bank and asked them. That's just me though...

Why not spend the time surfing the website of the bank you want to open an account with and check the FAQs. Much easier option than waiting to be insulted in here.

Bloody hell.

Have you tried looking at the banks website?

Have you tried phoning the bank?

Have you tried going into the bank and asking?

Lazy, and usually this place can answer most questions (or at least pick holes in it). Here's a speling mistakke too in case any one feels left out.

Well, if you want to open the account online you will have to use their website. Alternatively phone them or take a walk to the high street. Not very stressful if you really need the account.

Now I remember why I don't post on here much any more, it's not like the good old days anymore. Enjoy the rest of your evening every one.

Judging by your log in info - the good ol' days weren't that long ago unless you had a different one before - one that I can't recollect.

As you said yourself, you're being lazy rather than asking a random question that would require more than 1 minute to find out. Not what P&P is about IMHO.

Is it because you don't have someone there to hold your hand while you do it?
