A member of the local Lax Power brigade was giving us all a demonstration of his immaturity this afternoon by wheelspinning and tearing up and down the road near to where I live.

It is a "major" road for a housing estate (if that makes sense) with a school 150 yards away, and a small shopping parade (hence this muppet had an audience)

I was pushing my 13 week old son in his pram, and was waiting for this knbhead to clear off before I crossed the road.

The front wheels of the pram were NOT on the road, OR overhanging the kerb.... they were about six inches from the kerbstone

The idiot driver thought it would be fun on one of his high-speed (around 45-50mph - in a 30 limit) passes, to get as close to the kerb where my pram was as he could.

When I realised what he was doing as he approached, I yanked the pram back.... he actually kerbed his car... he got that close.

I yelled abuse, and he stopped... got out of his car, and said "I'll get you next time"

Hardly believing my ears, I told him to "come here and say that"

A complete barrage of abuse followed, and he got back into his car, and reversed at high speed towards me... stopping about a foot short.

Amazed onlookers shouted at me that they had taken his reg, and I should call the police.

I was so enraged, that I left the pram with my wife, ran up towards the pillock's car, and dragged him out of the driving seat.

He was breathing when I left the scene, but he had taken a severe beating when I was dragged away by several people.

I am not normally a violent person but saw the red mist when in my opinion, I was targetted by a complete twat.

I am expecting a visit from the BiB...... and in law, I don't have a leg to stand on.

Did I do right, or wrong?

I know legally, I am completely wrong, and I know I have reduced myself to gutter level, but would appreciate people's thoughts on this.

I dont know if it means anything but you have my FULL support and backing on this.

Find out if anyone else in the neighborhood has had any problems from said and see if they will back up your story to the police.

Were there witnesses? get as many as possible.

Plus side is that as he is a driver (even a crap one) then he will be regarded as a criminal anyway. Down side is that he will probably get a free holiday for the stress of being beaten.

I wish you the best of luck

Well at least you did a proper jog scum like that only understand one language.

Yes you did wrong, but what are you supposed to do...wait for him to have another go at hitting the pram?

If he takes you to court for GBH take him to court for attempted murder

Utter scum

FFS! What a complete and total waste of space that scum is. It does not bare thinking about what COULD have happened if he had mis-judged the situation.

I dont give a flying what the law says, I'm behind you on this one Its understandable, HE COULD HAVE KILLED YOU AND YOU KID FFS. These are the kind of idiots that need dealing with, although in the eyes of the law this does not involve giving them a beating.
To be honest, he'll wont want to do anything. If he's been in trouble before it wont be worth his while. The police will want to know the reason for you grabbing him, so I would be surprised if he did.

Good luck!

forgot to say: maybe the onlookers conveniently looked the other way as soon as he got out of his car! did the police turn up at the scene or did anybody get your details?

Yes there were.... Wifey took the details of seven independant witnesses after I had been removed from the scene.... bless her, she had the sense to get it sorted!

I'm still shaking with rage typing this!

I don't know if the police were called, and the wife doesn't seem to think so.

The scum certainly does not know eher I live, but at least one of the witnesses does.

Now I'm in a dliemma.....

Do I sit and wait to see if the BiB were called?

Or do I call them, and put my side of the story first... with backup from independant witnesses?!?!

I know we did when a neighbour (Dib) aprehended an attempted burgler and car thief one early morning.(He admitted to breaking into houses to get car keys later when questioned). The poor young chap fell very akwardly when tackled and damaged all of his face. It really was a shame. The neighbour managed to keep hold of him even when his 3 mates came back with bricks etc.
None of us saw any of this as we were all too busy keeping his mates away..........honest officer

What a terrible predicament. In this case IMHO you reacted to a situation in which the life of your wife and child where put at risk. I just hope that you are feeling ok. As you have described the incident you have acted the same as the majority of people on this board.

I hope that common sense and reason are seen by the law and the muppet has the sense not to try and prosecute.

Take it easy and pass on my best wishes to your wife and know that there are good people out there who support you.

...and if he does, how's he going to identify you?

I'd say wait, and content yourself with knowing that you did what any other right-minded parent would have done in the circumstances.

These low-life morons deserve all they get. What about publishing his registration number, just for the sake of interest you understand?

These scum need a good beating every now and then, and I am glad you gave hime one I really hope this doesn't go any further with the police, the good thing is that this to55er doesn't know where you live and I am pretty sure that if you have witnesses to his moronic behaviour they will have looked the other way when you doled out your response. (well I certainly hope so anyway)

At the end of the day you have a young family to protect and faced with this sort of behaviour I don't doubt that most men would have acted the same way. r am I wrong:

I have my fingers crossed for the right outcome

Wow!

I am so grateful for the support so far!

I really did not expect such comments.

It is one of those situations where I KNOW I am in the wrong, but just had to tell someone about it, and seek opinions.

Many thanks for the support.

Wifey is now shocked (she was the level headed one - ie getting witness details - at the time)

Baby slept through the whole thing... typical!

Have now got through half a jar of coffee, and 15 Marlboro lights (I quit smoking in January!)

Still waiting for a knock on the door.....

What worries me so much, is that I went *way* beyond reasonable force.....

Do nothing for now but wait. Then if BIB visit say very little. If they caution you say nothing incriminating until a solicitor advises you. Maybe you were trying to arrest him for dangerous driving and he refused to get out of the car. Maybe you believed he hadn't passed his test and was driving illegally. Maybe he attacked you and you being bigger hit him a bit hard and you panicked given the heat of the moment. You may have been afraid, who really knows. You were shook up and your adrenaline was pumping. He said he was going to get you so that was a threat you took as genuine. Thing is not to rabbit off now whilst your still shook up. You need a cool head and some time to reflect on matters with proper legal advice.

Good on for giving the scrote what he deserved!!

You did nothing wrong, well done, don't even know you and would happily buy you a beer!
One thing that seems VERY important to me is that regardless of what anyone else says I would forget the bit about dragging him out of the car. I would say he attacked you and if you found any witnesses to back that up just in case it would be very handy. If it looks like you took the fight to him you will be in big trouble, regardless of how it started.

I know its difficult, but try and relax, and put those fags in the bin, you don't want to start smoking again. Pour yourself a large G&T, brandy or whatever your tipple may be. As has been said, how is this tw@t going to be able to track you down?
