A very unreliable source tells me there is a rumour of a new XK next Spring. Is this complete rubbish or any truth to it?

It's not been out long and I understand it's selling reasonably strongly - not going to be replaced any time soon. Facelift maybe, but not replacement.

Perhaps your source has confused it with the XJ which is due replacement soon - albeit, knowing Jag it will probably just be a re-skin of the existing saloon.

Isn't the new 5L engine due early next year. Count be that you've heard about.

That's what I was going to suggest, along with the 3 litre diesel?

I heard that it's a bit more than a reskin.

It's MUCH more substantial than a 're-skin' wink

Details then? In comparison would the XF be judged as a reskin of the S-Type or a completely new model?

Current XK goes through to 2012. Facelift next year. No decision whether XK will continue on after that or whether it will be replaced by a whole new model/range.

XF is a "top-hat". Same underpinnigs, mostly new body.
XJ40 - X300 was a reskin for comparison.

OK, so Job38 seems to know the score with the new XJ. How does it compare to the above examples?

Personally I love the existing XJ and will be looking to get a nice late one before they go. Best of luck with the new one though, if its as good as the XF it will be a winner.
