usb playlist reset

so, I have a usb option and a 16gb stick with lots of stuff on it.

I have a number of playlists which I maintain with stuff on them mainly these are..

everything (which has everything on it)
car (which has stuff I like on it)

everytime I update the playlists on the stick the car adds a new one to the list so I now have..

everything
everything-1
everything-2

car
car-1
car-2

Obviously this cannot be good as the old playlists will be trying to see songs that are no longer on the stick..

How can I remove them from the car (they are not on the stick).
