You know that noise you get through your speakers when your mobile rings or when you are talking on your mobile. That electrical pulsing buzzing type of sound. My TV and speakers (when they are turned on) are constantly making this noise and it is doing my head in. Has been this way for the last 2 days.

Nobody is using a phone in the house which was my first thought.

I plea for help as this is driving me up the wall!

Your amplifer is picking up spurious feedback and interference.

It may well burst into flames at any time.

Take it outside and smash it up with a large heavy object and replace with a decent one.

TBH my TV does the same thing. I wondered myself why. Its like a low frequency humming sound. Almost as if the treble is turned too much and causing the sound to be too sharp, you can hear the circuit.

My speakers 'thunk' whenever a light is switched on or off somewhere in the house, and if the volume is really low, or even off at sunset I pick up very grainy American radio stations.

On another note every light in the house dims by about 50% whenever Wacky plugs in the jet power-wash for the cars.

Is there any kind of wireless device (reciever/transmitter) located close by?

Had the same thing with a cordless phone located close to the hi-fi, bothered me for ages, moved a few metres away - job done.

Could be wireles connections, possibly if you live in a semi-detatched or in close proximity to other homes their wireless connection interfering.

Is is earthed properly?
Are any connecting cables loose or broken?
Does moving any cable change it?

Should be earther using a 3 pin plug. The cd player cabes are crap and connections crap, but when i turned that off at the wall (along with everything else in the room araprt from the TV) the tv still makes that noise so im suspecting some sort out outside interference.
