just brourt a new car Tax disk runns out in a few day

need a new disk from the 1st of next mouth.

couldent arange insharance to monday.

so what i did was get my mrs to bye as a tempery mesure till I can so my insharance will cover me 3party as i dont own it.

but what do i do about tax as when me mrs sells it to me and i reg it too me.

the log book wont be back in time to get tax

the guy put mrs name on the sellers part.

and gave me log book

would it be best just to fill in my name on the bit i send to save seding it off twice.

anyway in the mean time whats the legal position on the tax when it runs out.

i want to get and dont need to pay for it any way as we have an exemption for tax

but cant go down the dvla and get tax to i got log book back with my name or can I ?

what happens in the mean time if i get pulled and the tax has run out ?

i wouldent have bother with the mrs bying it but had to as we need transport badly

before monday

According to the law, if on a public road, the car has to have tax insurance and Mot.
And as such, an offence is committed if one of those isnt present.

However, given the reasons you have just stated, and as long as it is insured, for a couple of days you should be ok, if you can carry proof that you have just bought it then that would help, because the usual excuses are either.
1. I have just bought it.
2. The tax is in the post.
If you can show proof then it would be a help to you.

Then again, it depends on who stops you

Was the headgasket problem a bigger problem than expected?

yea changed head gasket it had gone was well blown.
but head and block was fine

got it all back

had ushall starting proc due to cam lifter ie priming shouldent have need hand primmin never took em out or replsed them.

so i cranked it over a few times by hand to prime em got it startet then.

but it wont run on low revs just cuts out un 2000.

re checked cam timing and thats dead on the marks.
so sould be fine

it is acting if it a tooth out but its dead set where it was before i had head off

had troble getting belt off it a 1.8 vaxhall sohc
ie cam belt tention done from warter pump and at 3 allen bolts was screwed so i couldent scak it but managed to get it on and off.

checked it againg and botom and top are lined up dead on marks.

i took the carb and inlet off to get head out easyer
anll new gaskets not reusing any.

so cant see what the hell it is

may be carbration or electrical cant see it being cam timeing.

or a vacume leak cant figer it out.

as for new on its in faR BETER NICK AND A 2L I
BUT I WANT TO TRY TO SORT OTHER ONE AND GET SOME CASH BACK on as just i just put a brand new PAS rack and radeator in it.

im no expert in macanics but can normaly do most stuff

including the forged pistons

pluss there a nos kit laying around for it

it was A1 conditon

yea as for tax im more than willing to get pluss

we have a exempton any way so it free.

just dident know how to get it before i get log book back with my name on.

as soon as i do i only have to go down locaL DVLA AND DO A SWORN ON OTHER ONE AND GET A NEW FREE DISK FOR

THE NEW ONE

I like those 91 astras. They go like stink.
In my opinion they were the best hot hatches vx made. Good modifications on those can't be a bad thing.

YEP THERE A HELL OF A PULLER FOR YOU LOT.
but realy nice car some say they dont handel

i say god fun handeling if you givem some respect
and there very predictable handerling wise

but the local law in my town sort of know me and im retired now.

so never get a pull in it. pluss all ways driving about at night early ie 3am and there used to seeing it.

funny one was once the last time we move wanted a new sofa

and quickl swung in the local shooping estate.

so a TO car asumed it was kid you for some handbreaks. and followed us in

we sorted in a few sec and they relised it wasent a nicke one.

we go to go out and the gate to the retail parks sute and were both stuck there.

while the two bib are aguing and asking yeach other if they saw any one lock it.

i wander over to the gate to check it out

and it an auto closing job on a timer.

the two bib are looking bit worried now guess they did want the inbarismet at the station if they have to call in.

and dont seem to know what too do

so i look around and see that one of the shopeseems to have to night works of some sort

so say well they must be able to get out some how
go and ask as you get more sence out as you got the uniform

so off one got come back with some bird.

and off we all go playing folow the leader to the far end

follow ing the bird in a litel corser

to let us out.

never got a produser as ill bet the dinder want the mick taken

it did make a chance getting the bib locked up for a change.

juist one point m8 re tax ok its an offence to not have tax.

but how the can you not break the rules if the log books in the post.

and your waiting too tax it as fast as you

i can take it down the local office save postin it in the morning

but i dont think it will get back by the 1st of the next mourh.

there must be some thing to allow for it

hence new bikes

i know when if brort bran new bike had to wait 2 week for the tax and log book.

There is no waver according to law.
If there is no tax, then the official line is that it should not be on the road.
However, If you explain what you have explained to me, that it is out of your hands, and you have done everything you reasonably could have, then you 99% of the time will be ok.
Just don't park it where someone can slap on a cle2/6 (the stick on form for no tax). Once that is stuck on, you may have a problem.
I am sure your charm can get you out of a stopcheck

knowing my luck ill get the 1%

ok dont realy leav it anywhere its off road when at my place

i was more worried about the dam councle stealing it.

they nicked one of mine before that had a sorn statment on it and was parked off road on my property.

they were seen but denied it.
