Not in my lifetime I hear you all cry!

But with MoM falls becoming less and less since May (Halifax), a 0.5pc cut in interest rates, smatterings of relief and maybe even optimism since yesterday's bail out announcement and an 4pc increase in asking prices across London last month (Rightmove),could things on the turn?

Could the floor be 15% from peak as ventured in a lead story on BBC website today?

Until the banks start getting happy agreeing mortgage deals, I wouldn't expect any good news from the housing market.

I doubt it.

People still have money worries, more businesses are going to the wall, costs of all essential items are increasing, meaning people have less money, meaning more people will default on their mortgages.

I know a few people who were earlier this year looking to buy a house, they are all not bothering now and are waiting until next year to see how the prices fall.

I find it hard to believe that anybody is buying a house during this turmoil. It is more that transactions are too few to give an accurate figure.

Actually I'm honoured, being insulted by Rich (insert random number here) seems to be a rite of passage on this forum.

Well seeming I don't have to pay for a mortgage for my negative equity home, I went out last week and bought a box of a 1000.

So it's a date.

To answer your question:

For those with multiple properties, or bought at the top of the market - YES
For those with one house, who understand property goes up as well as down - PERHAPS
For those not yet property owners, looking for a bargain, and hoping idle talk on forums will drive down prices - ABSOLUTELY NOT
