I’ve just bought a mobile phone!

Well it’s not new, but refurbished..
No built in camera, sat-nav, mpeg player and a load of other unnecessary functionality that I simply don’t need, it allows me to talk to people who are a long way away. It allows me send text messages. It’s got bluetooth. Meets all of my expectations. End of…
Best of all it’s not so bloody small that I can’t push 3 keys at once..
It’s one of these. £50 off e-bay

Best phone I ever had and I know a bunch of people that refuse to move on to anything else. Are Nokia missing a trick with these "old" phones?

The 6310i is without question the best phone I have ever had. Had them as both personal and company phones and never managed to break one - that includes the time I had one fall out of my pocket whilst on the top deck of a car transporter. Down it went bouncing off the metal and crashing to the ground - was still on and despite a few scratches was fine.
I’m ditching one of these for this “proper phone”

Company “standard” for all managers – crap. Far too small, almost impossible to work out how to use some of the stuff in it. The only problem I’ve got is that I can’t work out how to transfer my phone book to the SIM to put into the 6310i. ‘Spose I’ll be typing in numbers over the weekend.
About the 6310 - I never managed to figure out what the little removable piece on the bottom of the face was all about..

It's called your jaw - not actually removable (unless you spill someone's bird or call their pint a puff in the wrong circumstances); you just need to flap it about whilst exhaling, directing some of the air through your voice box, in order to use roughly 50% of the facilities of your basic mobile phone. I doubt Nokia have explained it in the manual though.Still using the black/gold 6310i that I was given as a company mobile in around 2001/2002. Company gave it to me when I left in early 2003. I have no intention of changing it for as long as it works - and then I shall try to buy another one. Have tried other phones but none come close to meeting my needs as does the 6310i. Lack of camera? - that means I can still use it when visiting companies that ban cameras.

In old phone copy CONTACTS to SIM. Put SIM in new phone. Then copy CONTACTS from SIM to phone.
Sorry, too simple. This would have worked in all other Nokias, but not this none.Edited by audidoody on Thursday 9th October 23:05
Like I say the latest one is crap. I'm buggered if I can work out how to do it

I only discovered recently, after countless panics late for meetings, that when your battery runs out your phone actually has a reserve. Doh!
Type in 3370# and it will recharge fifty percent automatically.

Keep in mind, when that goes you need to recharge the entire battery from scratch plus the hidden reserve "tank."
If I can help somebody as I go along my living has not been in vain ...My UK flip phone with camera cost £19. My US Nokia flip phone with camera cost $50.

Gone all nostalgic for this now. Used to own a 6310.
Which is a reputable sight to order a 6310i from?
http://www.nokia6310i.co.uk/
Seems expensive, but comes with new battery(?) and 12 months warranty.
