I've just won a £50 Red Letter Voucher at work. Never used these people before but will probably opt for one of the driving experiences. Has anyone ever been on one of these things who can recommend something? Willing to top this up a little but the wife wouldn't want me I wouldn't want to add too much.

They were bought out by Peter Jones and Theo Papadopolopolis from Dragon's Den. They have turned it around but two other agencies have recently gone bust so it's not an easy time for them.

You will not get anything worth doing for a £50 voucher I'm afraid.

RLD will take approx. 50% commission, which means the people actually running the driving experience will be giving you whatever £25 will pay for, which as you can probably imagine is not a lot!

Take a look through the RLD catalogue and try and find something that takes your fancy but I doubt there will be anything much under £199 worth going for.

Better still, try and get a refund on the voucher (probably not allowed) or just chuck it in the bin and book a driving experience direct with the operator (Thruxton, Silverstone, Rockingham etc.) Much better value for money and you get a better idea of what you're getting for your money.

HTH!

You'll get more seat time at MB World but if you've always wanted to drive a Ferrari, then I suppose I can see why you might want to go to Goodwood although I'd have to say that even at the £75 upgrade price, it's not great value (5 minutes driving a 308!)

Off topic, but I noticed in the paper this week that West Sussex county council are offering a driving skills course (on road, plus skid-pan at Goodwood) for 17-25 year olds, for £60. They will also add this Ferrari experience in for another £60...

Oops, sorry. I stand corrected. Apologies to Deborah.

No, no, I said I was sorry. Call your lawyers off please Ms. Meadon. It was an honest mistake.
