Anyone been/going this year?

I'm going down tomorrow evening.

Was wondering if the fact that they struggled to raise the funds needed to put the event on meant it would be lacking in content this year?

Hmmm, not been for years, might see what the BG family think and get the train in from Belper so I can have a pint or three.

Was thinking we ought to get a PH group together see this one evening.

I went 2 weeks ago. And if I were you I would not go on the Sunday. Ok there were some boats lit up. But 4 quid each to get in to see them is shocking. Inside there is a donut stall a rspca raffle and a hook a bag. absolute waste of time. I`m sure the fireworks on the Saturday might have been better. But DONT go.

The "Venetian" boat nights have been a MB feature many many years, a lovely experience, especially on a dry warm night.

Hmm but these are boats with lights on, that go round in circles and thats it. You cant get in em for a ride. Actual venetian boats going down the river would be worth 4 quid

Just an update on this. I went down on Saturday night and i am proud to say the turnout was brilliant, the place was packed! £4 to get into the gardens was a bit steep, and in all honesty, there was a lack of boats (about 7 or 8 IIRC). Many of the boats were the same as previous years too.
Can't fault the fireworks however, they were flippin' fantastic! All in all i'd say worth a visit, especially when the fish and chips from the promenade fish bar are so good
