Road Angel Connected or Pogo??
Discussion
I have spent a good few hours reading the posts on there and other places and really can't decide between what GPS scamera detector to get.
Would get the Pogo Alert but has to have a wire cluttering up the dash. The Road Angel Connected looks good but getting very mixed reviews people seem to love or hate it. The fact you can push a button when you see a mobile camera van at a particular sight and alert others looks like great idea but does this really work or is it a gimmick. I have spent ages doing on-line searches but not got satisfactory answers to above.
Thinking about getting a Pro-Park Laser system installed as that looks to be the best but as 911's don't have a front grill to put the sensor behind is it a viable option for a Porsche?

Be aware you can hardwire the pogo into your cars electrics so no trailing wires. Accuracy wise the pogo has it hands down. I tried a RA and it was a disaster left me a virtual wreck. Pogo shows average speed through specs plus how many cameras etc and will also tell you if a camera you are approaching is on the opposite side of the road or yours. Pogo also IIRC has either a 2 or 3 year man warranty if it goes wrong they will fix it quite happily.
To be fair I only tried one which was the basic version you see everywhere (£60-70) and it was a class a disaster. Told me there was a 30mph speed cam on a motorway that didnt exist. Also missed the first camera in both directions on a section of motorway i drive regularly thankfully.
Accuracy wasnt that great either and it was nowhere near as informative on screen and vocally and its also not as configurable as the pogo.
However I only tried the one but never again will I use one left me a near gibbering wreck after my pogo's efficiency.
See if you can someone who has both and try em.

If I understand correctly the POGO comes equipped with a windscreen mount. I have a B2 atthe moment thats mounted to the top of the dashboard. Can the windscreen mount be dismantled in such a way that the bit that the POGO attaches to could be mounted to the dashboard instead?

The pogo alert can either be mounted using the windscreen mount or the dash mount supplied in the box. if you use the dash mount and want to use the laser detector you will then require a 'laser ext lead' so you can fit it in the same way you would have done with you b2 unit.If I understand correctly the POGO comes equipped with a windscreen mount. T350 is the resident expert and man who deals with all things nav and scamera wise I am merely the pogo fanboy.
Small sidenote though. The alert has a secondary mount in the box but when I first got my drive it only had a windscreen mount. Has this now changed or still the same situation T350?

Have to say I have used T350 for laser pro park and Pogo alert... top man who provides a great service- I had the LPP wired in as well as the hard wire for the Pogo- completely unobtrusive. Whereabouts are you located? I'm in West London but drove up to just outside Leicester to get the guy to do it. That's all he does so it was a superb job and only charged me £100 to fit- I also got a rear head fitted for the LPP too. Let me know if you want his number
Yeah thanks spoke to 350 yesterday about a pro-park says he has a guy near me in North London that can fit one for about a ton, and the unit with front sensor from him is about £220 so may go down that rounte.
I really want one fitted at the back like you but there is not really a place to put it on the back of my 997. I got my motor from official Porsche dealer few months back and if I want to trade it back in with them in few years then they will only take it back if got only in original Porsche condition. The front is no problem as I can have the sensor put in front air dam so it can easily be removed. But don't want to make a hole in the back bumper for a sensor as would cost me a fortune to buy a new one when trade it in with Porshce. He said speak to the fitter though.
But yeah if you could email me your Leicester fitter then could have a word with him about it.
For same reason I don't wanna make permenant holes in dash for the Pogo. Plus cos it is parked in the street in London don't even like leaving a cradle on display as people will still smash window to see if stuck away in glove box.
So my options are either run Pogo with lead from cig lighter (only need to use if few times a month when drive out of the big smoke) or go for the Road Angel Connected which gets very mixed reviews.

997 as before if its only scameras you are wanting to avoid the pogo is absolutely pin sharp accuracy wise and doesnt have the same false alert problems that most others do. The only real issue is if it has the mew mobile alerts but even then its not such a big issue as it can be set up in varying ways to minimise the mobile alerts whilst normal service on other cameras carries on.
I have the drive version and tend not to be that bothered by the mobile site warnings as I have set the range quite long and it shows on screen that its a mobile site as well so i tend to use the pinch of salt lookout rule rather than stamping on the brakes.
Agree re not leaving the cradle in view. I use mine everyday but remove the cradle when not parked at home .PITA but thieves are opportunists.

I've sent you a mail with the fitters details but as an aside if you have a tracker fitted you may be able to get an extra alert function.I have an RAC Trackstar and for an extra £80 a year you can have it alert you whenever you approach a camera site with an audible bleep. This can be hidden behind a grill in the cabin-the advantage here is that it is always updated and does not rely on you taking thre unit in an updating via PC
