Tried searching for this so hope it isn't a repost - to be fair though, I didn't know what to put in the search criteria.

Am still a little lost for words other than FAR TOO MUCH SPARE TIME.

Michael Arndt apparently has a surplus of a few things:

1. matchsticks, 956,000 to be precise

2. glue sticks, 1,698

3. time, six years

This guy made a scale model of a Mercedes McLaren 4/41 Formula One car. This German man set out over six years with six thousand Euro and built this full scale model in his kitchen. It can be torn down in 45 seperate pieces for ease transportation to other matchbuilding conventions. FYI, matchbuilding conventions are only slighly cooler than comic book/Star Wars conventions.
All that remains to be seen are the pics:

Do you think after he finished that, he sat back for a nice smoke and couldn't find light?

Reminds me of the Italian guy who carved a Ferrari F50 out of wood, and uses it as a boat in Venice.

There is a woman present in one of the pictures, if that is his missus she must be very understanding.

I admire it in a way, I could not imagine keeping myself motivated to glue nearly one million matchsticks together over a period of 6 years. Christ, if he applied himself to some start-up business with that level of zeal he'd probably be a millionaire now.

Sorry to flame but I think it looks like total crap. I am no art freak but I am sure I could produce something that looks a lot better than that with 6 years to build it in. Look at the shot of the cockpit with the top of the dashboard - it's just dreadful.

Reminds me of that awful DIY program which used to have shares in MDF frown

Yes this is very cool - I think it even makes a lovely piece of artwork too.

Beats 'General Carbunkle' all hands down:

...theres a few of my old cars stuck on there somewhere.
