Hi Guys

For track days driving, has anybody experimented with lowering the ride height.......??????
Whats the lowest ride height tried ie. 50mm ???
What noticable difference did it have ie. more down force ???

Also for track days whats the widest overhang tried on the front splitter.....????? I've got an 80 mm overhang .confused

Calling all the Stigs out there.....bow

I'll rise to it.

50mm? So lowering the the body onto the wheels by 60mm?

I'd say your first issue is that the wheels won't turn. They'll foul the bodywork. I should think you could get away with 100mm on std springs, and say 90mm on the Top Gear set (as they don't compress as much).

Never tried, so it's all talk really.

I'd like the lower COG over the aero effect. I don't think we should kid ourselves that the under side of a std Ult was designed for GE. With that lowered floor and engine bay treatment?...don't think so.

Just had my undertay & rear difuser fitted so will soon see if it makes it stick (once the springs are changed & i get the wheelarch clearance issue sorted on the front nearside).
Doubtfull everything will be ready till next year now as I really dont fancy a trackday with more red mist heroes in Mondeos & Volvo T70s in the wet..

With mods to the Under Tray I don't doubt. As std, I do.

Yep the rear 3/4 is a pure mess underneath -specially with the sump guard brace in place.
Mines flat floored all the way down now, so there should be some improvement to be had.
The 245 front tyres are very good -deffinately better than the 235 fitted as standard.

Thanks for the reply Guys.....

Firstly flamethrowers are tame.....biggrin
When Jeremy Clarkson arrived at the MPH Show in Johannesburg , he entered the arena in a yellow Lambo smoking the house down , stopped, jumped out holding an AK-47 and had enough ammunition to take on Afghanistan in the back, the man knows his beans!......;)

Also, I'm hoping that the bds would go for something more disposable - there's only 3 Ultimas in the country at the moment - a bit conspicuous!

Mr P , sorry my mistake, yes we do measure from under the axle , with the raked stance on the GTR and my front splitter of 80 mm the overhang of the body and said splitter puts the front nose at 80 mm front clearance .
I've put the new Top Gear springs on and am awaiting the Kumos , I'm hoping to drop to 90 mm under the axle that should give me 60 mm at the front of my splitter. wink

Mr Wilder , I'm really hoping you will put some detailed pic's of your under tray on the forum . To be honest I want to take advantage of the dropped floor and run my under tray at the dropped floor level and continue back to the sump guard at the same level , that gives an additional 50mm and doesn't affect the wheel arches. Whats your thought's Guys.???? confused

Gripping stuff .......biggrinclap

No problem, I have to go to Phoenix this week & put it on the ramp , so will post the pics from that visit.
I know people love the Khumos, but the R888 Toyos are something else (come in 3 compounds I think).

I will try to get a price out of Ollie as a rough ballpark figure for the difuser, as Im sure you can get the sheet undertray done locally.
I saw hamster drive along the coast in SA on TG, and you have some very fine looking driving roads there to be sure.

Don't any of you guys have speed bumps where you are?

Anything below 95mm at the front and the splitter starts to bottom out.

once i tried 90mm at the front and 120 at the rear, went over a speed bump very slowely and got stuck.

• Hydraulic height adjusting cylinder unit is installed
at the coilover suspension between racing spring and lower spring perch

• The pump unit is installed inside or near the
spare wheel well

• Lifting the vehicle is done remotely with an electronic keychain transmitter avoiding any
need to run additional wiring through the vehicle

• Lifting the vehicle can be activated whether stationary or in motion, up to speeds of 80 km/h.
Over 80 km/h, the vehicle is automatically lowered to its standard level

• Rubber dust covers are used to protect the hydraulic
cylinder unit against stone chips, dust and dirt, thereby providing long term durability

Well let's talk history and present here....
you all know INTRAX, an option set of ultima.

The owner called Henk Thuis was in fact in the 70's working at Koni (F1) and after that he founded WP that stands for White Power. Great shocks, many world records etc. They made ride hight adjustment sets. In fact I drive a set under my donkervoort.
You can adjust the car about 3 cm on the shockabsorber by turning a wheel.
I think he still is making the set or something even better in his current firm Intrax. Feel free to call them for a set, it's not cheap but is made by somebody who knows how it works. In fact he is still racing and winning
