Gatornationals

I'm going to the Gatornationals next year in March. Can anyone recommend where to stay? and where to go/do in the evenings?

Is it worth staying in Gainsville, or staying somewhere like Jacksonville or Orlando and travel over each day?

Any help will be welcome, thanks.

Hi Stay in Lake City, 20 mins north, lots of places to stay and beat the traffic coming from the south/Gainsville (do not use the 75). I have stayed there several times.

Thanks, are there flight direct to gainsville? or is it cheaper to get an indirect flight?

You can get direct flights to either Jacksonville or Tampa.

The cheapest way is any of the holiday airlines that fly into Orlando Sanford FL.(SFD), I work for one (starts with a "T") and always use the fly drive package. Pick the car up (next to the terminal) and drive up the Florida Turnpike to Lake City. It will take 2 Hours. Lots of hotels much cheaper that Orlando, book before you go.

An alternative is to fly into Orlando (MCO) or drive up From Miami. I have driven up from Miami serveral times.....its a long way!!!
