Was there ever such a car? If so then did it have the LSD like the 318is?

Ok, if I did decide I wanted the LSD off him:

a) would it fit straight on to my non-LSD 325i

b) how can I tell it's a bonafide LSD and not an open one?

If it's a BMW LSD it will have an "S" marked on the case (see below, E30 318 diff shown) but again that is no real indication as the LSD internals can be removed.

Thanks for that, I've been screwed over a couple of times buying second hand parts so I want to be a bit cautious.
