Did my first trackday in the Cerb yesterday, at RAF Marham. What an experience. The track is the only place to take a Cerb to the max (and a bit more, whoops!). A question - after a high speed run, brake really hard then accelerate I would get a lot of grey smoke from the exhaust. Investingation showed that that oil was comming from the block breather back into the airinlet. Would this have been too much oil in the engine or something else?
The engine is now running better than ever, all the rattles have disapeared! And after an 80 mile trip there a trackday the 80 miles back it still managed 16MPG (and we wern't driving like Miss Daisy).

You may have overpressure in the crankcase, worn rings, guides , etc nothing really to worry about on normal days and as you say the crap has been cleared.
I would suggest that you limit the revs on track days to 500-750 below your max and see what oil is lost to the catch pot or sump level.
My MG would rev to 7200 but at that I lose 1 ltr to the pot, so now I have a rev limiter set at 6000, peak power is 5500 so I tend to use 3rd at 5000-6000 at lot.
Don't worry to much change your oil very regular with top quality 60 pounds every 3-4 months is small price to pay, mine gets changed every two track days so thats 2/300 miles.

Woah!

Love the BGC.

Always been a Triumph fan, but I could swap for that. Lovely car, lovely restoration.

a little oil covering the back of the car is normal (like a very very fine coating) - show's its working hard. Agree about the engine, everything is given a thorough work out on track and the car feels alot better for it. thumbup
