Hello all...

Is it easy to take out the speedo, or am I going to regret starting this one?

I'd like to send it off to be refurbed, as it keeps sticking, but I'm worried that the silver surround is going to be a nightmare to get off and will probably bend or snap.

Has anyone done this and has anyone got any tips before I dive in.

Cheers

Hello

It is not too hard done this myself you will need to take the pod off that holds the dials there are two wing nuts either side of the pod that hold it down they you can feel them under the dash, once they are off you can get to the back of the speedo and it is held in by a couple of bolts easy to undo, I took a picture of the wires that go to the speedo and just put them back as they was easy, good luck

do search for 'workshop manual', there are good instructions in there. somebody just recently posted about a new, better copy that can be downloaded, can't remember who though. but do a search and you will find it ...

Marcus, take it on a trackday hehe

Mine got stuck for the second time in 2000 miles recently (and was cussing at having to send it to Speedy Cables again), then in the second session at Spa yesterday, I realised it had suddenly started working again. Go figure confused

At least now I know I did in excess of (as it wasnt working for the first one and a half sessions) 160 miles around Spa yikes

I agree with Fubar, bounce it over some kerbs and it usually comes unstuck. thumbup
