....whenever i go over a bump or round a corner faster than usual. First time it happened it came as a bit of a shock at 60mph - quick reactions needed.

For the remainder of the journey i drove holding onto the door and yanking it shut periodically. Took it to a friends place who tightened the allen key nuts on the door latch receiver and also noticed that the catch sited on the door itself had shifted meaning it probably wasn't catching properly. Shifted back and hey presto.

Due to the terrifying experience beforehand i have spent the past 2 weeks still driving with one hand on the door where possible - particularly over bumps. On Saturday i just built up the courage to let go and as i took a right hand bend the door flew open into the path of oncoming traffic

Somehow i managed to grab it and yank it back in time. I could take it to Peninsula for them to look at but i can't see that there's any more mechanics that these two latches/catches and the bible suggests likewise - so before i pay for someone to sort it does anyone have any other ideas / experiences?

PS The door latch hasn't shifted back again so it's not this.
Thanks

Had a few similar experiences.

Possibilities include:

1 Cables getting snagged/need adjusting?

2 Something in boot catching on the emergency opening? (depending on where this is routed)

3 Central Locking having a funny five minutes?

Have experienced 1 and 3. The latter was most puzzling, took a lot of fiddling about, and still don't know for sure what happened.

had this happen to me and adjusted the door latch mechanism and solved the problem. It is likely to be a problem with that somewhere along the line, whether it is the return spring not getting it back to the fully closed position or the wire itself needing adjustment so its not quite so "delicate" to open the door. All assuming yours operates the same way as mine.
