OK, I've always seen the NSX as the pinnacle of Japanese performance motoring. Yes, the R34 was probably quicker point-to-point and in VFM terms an Evo takes a lot of beating. But the NSX was always the one which tugged the heart-strings more, as well as being universally applauded.

Now in the last couple of weeks the R35 GT-R seems to be taking on 'mapped' 335d status on the forum. And it's stats and magazine reviews do read like a hypercar's, all for less money than the NSX commanded.

But...I saw a photo of the two side-by-side, and the GT-R towers over the NSX, itself not exactly a Caterham. And there's nearly half a ton difference.

So...money aside, which would you have?!? And why?

what, the old NSX, or the still somewhat etherial new one?

bit of a difference in performance...GTR has 250bhp more, and twice the torque!

I could go for an NSX, but it would have to be something very special - mabye a genuine NA2 NSX-R?

The old NSX - the new one will from the sounds of things be closer to the R35 in execution than THE NSX...a bit like Porsche replacing the 911 with a front-engine'd hatchback and still calling it 911...

Im not a fan of the new machines. Ok, the new GTR is an oustanding bit of kit, but looks FUGLY!

Give me an R34 over the new GTR anyday.

I would gladly take an NSX over the new GTR too. The NSX was and is a strikingly beautiful car, and when you see one up close and in the flesh/metal....WOW! And the NSX-R just takes it that little bit further, as it has the performance to back up the looks.

If we're talking about the "old" NSX, then my heart says NSX and my head says GTR.

The NSX is on my list of cars to own at some point, the GTR (at least the new one) isn't.

As a slightly related aside, given the choice between an R34 GTR VspecII NUR and the latest GTR, I'd take the NUR yes
