Hi all, just back from three weeks in the Uk with my baby and had great fun picture enclosed. While there had lots of info from you all on induction and rolling road remaps and eventually went with Julian up at Trackcar and have enclosed my map he did. Firstly thanks to all for the reccomendation, Julian sure knows his TVR's and many others I feel spent the whole day from early o'clock till 3pm with him and other than befor we started my throttle cable broke? That was after driving up early morning from Oxford?? he was just adjusting it for max throttle when ping it went but befor I knew what was happening the air box was off a secret little panel was removed he had a spare in and working in fifteen minutes?? Would have taken a mechanic without the knoledge an hour at least. he then ran the first test as you can see with the present set up and it hit about 327 hp. He was extremly impressed with the car and engine first off, so again many thanks to the "greengoblin". He then fitted the whirlwind short pipes and chip and off we went again and after three runs from about 397.5 to 399.5 he hit the magic 400hp and although as he said it looks fixed at exactly 400 i was there and it was spot on. I must say I can see why he gets you to sign your car away in case it blows up as time and time again it hits the max in third gear its an awsome sound. He then spend many hours with t.v screens and lots of numbers I hardly understood tuneing all the fueling fireing and whatever next running up over 120 miles on the rolling road plus a few outings to the real road for further checks. He was well impressed as other than extra fuel did not have to put a drop of oil or water in the beast all day??. All I can say it was a brilliant experience and Jullien many thanks I now have an incredible car that i thought was fast befor i came to you and now is just unbelievable and will spin the wheels in first and second in the dry (only if required!!)it is also smoother all the way up and fuel consumption has gone from high teens to on the last two fill ups 24/25 and that has been at fairly high speed and lots of local driving. Feel it would hit high twenties on a long run with a light foot. As you do when you drive a Cerb you get the odd driver that wants to see what you have got and so far have depressed a lot of Jap tin, a GT2 and cant remember but the new Audi something that was stunned when he was crawling all over my back end when I floored it in third and left him like he had put it in reverse? So to all again thanks for your help and Julien and Vicki many thanks and although its not 420hp its dam fast enough for me??

Sorry trying to add the chart and seem to have forgotten how? will do when brain working again as it is a very intersting read

Sorry lastly will get a picture of the engine bay with the new pipes but waiting for my son who is an F1 engineer to make me up some nice s/s brackets to hold the air boxes to the engine looks real good now especially as the short pipes show the fueling pipes

Hi again, It cost me about 1200 that included the pipes, chip rolling road remap and had to also have a new throttle cable fitted plus a fuel sensor and some petrol! its a long day including VAT. you do need to book him up as he seems to be very busy and its a one man show and takes all day basically. I stayed and watched most of it there is a snack waggon a short way down the road and not a far walk to a place for luch.

So am I right in thinking that you went from 327hp to 397.5hp with just the induction pipes and chip!?

It looks that way yes.

No surprise really as 4.5's can make anything from around 330-360bhp standard, it may just be something simple like a bad map with fueling etc out, or maybe the throttle cable was knackered and wasn't opening fully, although reading the above it sounds like it was tested when it was replaced.

400bhp is a good result from Whirlwind Induction and remap.

Jules.

IIRC she was running a little rough when I delivered her to Michael as she'd been standing for 3 or so weeks. So she was defo down on horses and that would of needed rectifying first off.

With respect to the throttle cable.... it was replaced not too long before I sold her, so I'm puzzled to why it's snapped so quickly. The RAC did the repair but I got Andy at APM to go over it and re-adjust when she went in for some work. Michael must have a very heavy right foot!

The throttle cable had fractured on the end, when it snapped there was only 3 strands of wire with bright ends indicating the rest of it had already broken some time before (however was probably perfectly ok when andy looked at it) the cable was also quite thin (not uncommon for AA/RAC roadside repair universal cable, it's only a get-you-home fix after all).

Cable was fixed, full throttle set and then the car was tested. Michael then watched the mods go on and the mapping start and the hp go up and up smile

Bet it was nice to see Mr Ferriers old motor once again Jules?

I did try to convince Michael to go for the SP exhaust before he got the bespoke mapping done.

As a side note, I used to run her on Tesco 99 - don't know what Michael uses. Can that make a difference to the overall hp figure?

Hi all yes right foot may be a little heavy but why have it if you dont use it?? I actually did fill it with 99 as a special treat when i brought her up to Jules although he managed to get rid of it pretty dam fast?? Dont have a local that sells so use mainly 97 though just filled her again with the 99 befor I left. The exaust will have to wait till next big trip back maybe when the sun is shinning again next year?? jules would I have to remap again when its put on and what do you reckon the difference would be??

Thanks all especially the "Greengoblin" for keeping such a great car in good nick I took the front panels off befor i left as the window washer filler had come off and checked all the front end and chassis all looked in very good condition with no corrossion at all. Put on a jublee clip instead of the initial glue that it was put on with so now all is well and dont have to peer through a muddy haze when it rained.

I see you had the induction kit etc, does this include new trumpets from the air box?

Mine have collapsed and quite honestly am looking to replace them with something a little more substantial.

That IS the induction kit Marcus, 8 short induction hoses. (Unless you mean the special 'In the Airbox' trumpets that ACT do).

Yeah, I mean the trumpets that actually come from the air box that the pipes connect to vis the jubilee clips.

Where abouts is Trackcar then, Sheffield? I am in Sheffield myself and it would be really good if there was someone up here that could tune up my Cerb!

Chesterfield isn't far from Sheffield is it?

Any ways...

I really need to sort my air box trumpets out, before getting the shorter induction pipes. If I buy the ACT ones do they come with the new air box trumpets, or do you have to buy them separately.

Likewise, do the trackcar ones come with the air box trumpets and if not does he sell them also?
